Who says, just because we are not in school, we can’t continue with our traditions and have some fun? In fact, that’s exactly what we should be doing!
For the next four weeks, “The Challenge” is on! Which buddy class pair is going to hold the prestigious SJS title of “Most School Spirit”? Teachers.. This means you too!

Grade Pre-K and Grade 8
Kindergarten and Grade 7
Grade 1 and Grade 5
Grade 2 and Grade 4
Grade 3 and Grade 6
Here is what you have to do. Attached you will find the SJS “Spirit Month” of events. These events will take place every Tuesday and Thursday until the last week of school for our 8th Grade students. After completing each challenge, email your answers, pictures or videos to spiritmonth@sjs-webster.com. Let them know your full name and what class you are in. We will decide the winners, which will be posted on our school Facebook page and website. (Parents, please note that photo and video submissions may be used on social media and the school website.)
Oh, and in case you were wondering,,, the more the merrier! Get siblings, parents, and even pets involved and get more points for your class! It’s that simple.
So let’s hear it SJS. Are you in it to win it? I hope you are! All entries must be received by 9pm each day. No late entries will be accepted.

Spirit Month: Schedule of Events
Tuesday May 12th – Tacky Tourist Day
We all know these people. You know the ones that wear socks with sandals, a crazy hat with sunglasses, perhaps carrying a map. You know what we mean. Earn 5 points for your creative picture. Get 3 bonus points for each member of your family willing to play along and dress in the photo with you. Add 10 bonus points if you include a video of you dancing to the song “Vacation” by the Go Go’s.
Thursday May 14th – Throw Back Day
OK Peeps… it’s time to raid your closets and dress from your favorite decade! Earn 5 points for your creative picture. Add 3 points for each member of your family willing to dress up with you. Add 10 bonus points if you all perform at least 30 seconds of a song from your chosen decade. Bonus 15 points telling us the number one song on the Billboard Charts from today’s date in the decade from which you are dressed. For example May 14th 1940, 1950, 1960 etc…
Bonus Day Saturday, May 16th
Attend the SJS Parade. Bring a sign showing your school spirit or decorate your car and receive 20 points.
Tuesday May 19th – Character Day
Here is your chance to dress up as your favorite character. Be it from a movie, a theme park, a book, a superhero or even a teacher! We want to see it! Earn 5 points for your creative costume. Add 3 points for each family member you can get to dress up and be in the picture with you. Add 10 points if you can answer all of the following questions.
- In what year did Superman make its debut?
- Who is Steamboat Willie and who was his creator?
- What is the name of the 4th book in the Harry Potter series?
- How many current teachers and/or staff are Graduates of SJS?
- What was the #1 Blockbuster movie of the year 2000?
Thursday May 21 – Missing School Dress Up Day
For 10 points send in a photo of yourself posing in your SJS Spirit Wear! Earn additional 20 points if you also send a picture in your formal uniform.
Tuesday May 26th – Team Pride Day
Ok sports fans… time to show your team pride. For 5 points wear your favorite team and send in a photo. Get 3 extra points for every family member you can get to dress up with you. Earn 10 additional points if you answer all the following questions correctly.
- Who is the most decorated American Olympian of all time, and what was their sport?
- Lorenzo Pietro Berra was otherwise known to the world as? What was his sport?
- In what years did the Bruins win the Stanley Cup?
- What year was the first Super Bowl and who played?
- What player scored the most points in a single NBA game?
20 point bonus if you send a picture of you in action playing your sport!
Thursday May 28th – Heritage Day
Get 5 points for wearing something that represents your heritage. Add 3 more points for every member of your family you can get to dress up with you. Add 10 points if you send in a family recipe to be shared.
Tuesday June 2nd – Pajama Day
5 points if you dress up in your best pair of PJ’s. Add 5 additional points if you are dressed in Footie Pajamas. Add 3 points for every family member that is wearing pj’s in the photo. Add 10 points if you send in a video either reading or telling your favorite bedtime story.
Thursday June 4th – COLOR WARS!!
10 points for each person in your photo wearing the correct TEAM COLOR!!

Grade 2 and Grade 4 – Pink
