On May 8th, 2024, Saint Joseph School 7th and 8th grade students gathered for the competition. After several rounds, the winning word was forsythia, a genus of deciduous flowering shrubs belonging to the olive family. Like the forsythia, which is hardy and can thrive under many conditions, 7th-grade student Oluwatobiloba (Tobi) Akindele thrived during the competition and was pronounced the winner. 7th Grade student Jada Jackson finished in second place, while 8th Grade student Ryan Grupposo finished in third. The spelling bee judges included H.S.A. president Pamela Parslow and parent Jon Belanger. Pamela Parslow presented gift certificates to the winners. Congratulations to all, and a heartfelt thank you to the Saint Joseph School Home and School Association for their invaluable role in running the Annual Spelling Bee and their tireless support.
