In addition, the Saint Joseph School Athletics program awarded students for their participation in their fall fundraiser. The highest sellers in each class received an 8” stuffed “Jojo the Eagle” – the school’s mascot. The top seller for the school was Lukas Barbosa, and he received a 12” stuffed “Jojo the Eagle.” Plus, the sixth-grade class raised the most money and will receive an ice cream party courtesy of the Athletics Program. The fundraiser raised over $3,000 for sports supplies.

Finally, the assembly culminated with the awarding of the Holy Family Traveling Statue – a new initiative by the school to help enrich the spiritual lives of students and their families. Each week, a random family is selected to take the statue home and use it and the devotional material provided to enrich their spiritual lives. The goal is to let the Holy Family be a role model for their own family. JT and Maggie Belanger were selected as the first students to have the statue in their home. The assembly ended with a fun game of “wrap yourself in duct tape and collect the most playing cards on the floor,” a student favorite! During the game, one student from every grade volunteered to be wrapped in duct tape (sticky side out) and have a classmate roll them over the floor. The goal was to have the most playing cards – strewn over the floor – stick to them. Grade 3 worked very well as a team and was the winner!

It was a busy assembly, but the students certainly enjoyed the opportunity for recognition and fun. Please visit the school’s Facebook page to view the assembly video. Congratulations to all the students!
