Recently, students at Saint Joseph School had a special guest in their Social Skills classes. The guest, Mrs. Nicole DiGregorio, is the Community Relations Manager at Cornerstone Bank and spent several days working with Kindergarten through Grade 8 students on financial literacy. Younger students had the opportunity to learn the difference between needs and wants, while students in grades 5-8 discussed budgeting. The budgeting workshop allowed older students to choose a career, identify a potential income, and make lifestyle and spending choices based on those decisions. It was an eye-opening experience. Financial literacy is one aspect of Social Skills classes at Saint Joseph School. The classes meet once a week and teach the importance of positive interactions and meaningful relationships. Middle school students also focus on interview skills, high school applications, and the essential skills and insights the students need to succeed as independent and productive members of society. Mrs. Scarlett Acheampong directs the Social Skills classes at Saint Joseph School.
