On Saturday, June 8th, the St. Joseph School Class of 2024 held their graduation ceremony following a special 1:00 p.m. Mass in St. Joseph Basilica. Seventeen 8th Grade students were recognized by their Home Room Teacher, Mary Ann Weaver. Each 8th Grade student received a St. Joseph School Graduation Certificate as well as recognition for their academic excellence and participation in clubs and organizations.

In addition, Headmaster, Rev. Grzegorz Chodkowski and Principal, Beth Boudreau distributed medals to the top two students who achieved academic excellence in the individual subjects. The student with the highest grade-point average received a gold medal on a red ribbon inscribed with the words, “Outstanding Academic Achievement” and their name. The student with the second highest grade point average received a silver medal on a white ribbon inscribed with the words, “Recognition for Academic Achievement” and their name. English/Language Arts: Gold – Molly Hachigian, Silver – Laura Ibrahim; Literature: Gold – Claire Calnan, Silver – Molly Hachigian; Science: Gold – Emily Macko, Silver – Nevaeh Bourgeois; Mathematics: Gold – Molly Hachigian, Silver – Jack Keller; Social Studies: Gold – Jack Keller, Silver – Molly Hachigian; Religion: Gold – Laura Ibrahim, Silver – Molly Hachigian; Spanish: Gold – Laura Ibrahim, Silver – Molly Hachigian. The student with the highest overall grade-point average received a medal with the words inscribed “First Overall Academic Achievement” and his/her name on it. Molly Hachigian was the recipient of this medal.

Finally, Headmaster, Rev. Grzegorz Chodkowski and Principal, Beth Boudreau distributed the following awards: Bishop Daniel P. Reilly Book Award – presented to the student who best exemplifies the bishop’s motto, “In Kindness and in Truth” and who demonstrates qualities of duty, honor, sacrifice, and accomplishment within the school community. The criteria for selection include displaying kindness and truth in everyday life, an enthusiasm for learning, and active involvement in service to the school, community, and church: Max Podgorny; Josephine P. Nalewajk Christian Witness Award – a distinguished award presented to the student who exemplifies outstanding Christian qualities as well as notable service to the St. Joseph Community. The student’s name is also engraved on a plaque displayed in the school: Emily Macko; Sister Mary Valenta Akalski Scholarship Award – given to students who will be continuing their education at a Catholic High School: KateLyn Baillargeon, Gabriel Gallant, Molly Hachigian, Mya Medina, Alvin Montreuil, Ella Parslow, and Max Podgorny – Marianapolis Preparatory School, and Renielys Garcia and Violet Johnson – St. Paul Diocesan Junior/Senior High School. Mr. Ronald Ducharme, Grand Knight, St. Joseph Basilica Council 12980 presented a $500 scholarship to Ella Parslow for continuing her Catholic education.
