On Saturday, June 5th, the St. Joseph School Class of 2021 held their graduation ceremony following a special 1:00 PM Mass in St. Joseph Basilica. Fourteen 8th Grade students were recognized by their Home Room Teacher, Mary Ann Weaver. Each 8th Grade student received a St. Joseph School Graduation Certificate as well as recognition for their academic excellence and participation in clubs and organizations. In addition, Headmaster, Rev. Grzegorz Chodkowski and Principal, Michael Hackenson distributed the following awards: Bishop Daniel P. Reilly Book Award – presented to the student who best exemplifies the Bishop’s motto, “In Kindness and in Truth” and who demonstrates qualities of duty, honor, sacrifice, and accomplishment within the school community. The criteria for selection include displaying kindness and truth in everyday life, and enthusiasm for learning, and active involvement in service to the school, community, and church: Dale Boudreau; Josephine P. Nalewajk Christian Witness Award – a distinguished award presented to the student who exemplifies outstanding Christian qualities as well as notable service to the St. Joseph Community. The student’s name is also engraved on a plaque displayed in the school: Maya Podskarbi; Sister Mary Valenta Akalski Scholarship Award – given to students who will be continuing their education at a Catholic High School: Alexandra Bergeron, Rylee Conlon, Lauren Gingo, and Samantha Keller (Marianapolis Preparatory School), Krystian Kowalczyk and Dominic Lilley (St. Paul’s Junior/Senior High School); Arthur McLean Scholarship – presented to students who are continuing their education at Marianapolis Preparatory School: Alexandra Bergeron, Lauren Gingo, and Samantha Keller.
Finally, Athletic Director, Joey Boudreau presented the Coach “Reggie” Proulx Memorial Athletic Award. This award recognizes an 8th grade girl varsity basketball player for her dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment. St. Joseph School is proud to announce that the 2021 recipient is Maya Podskarbi. Her name will be engraved on the plaque and prominently displayed in the Richard A. Nowak Gymnasium. In addition, Mr. Boudreau announced the recipient of the Richard J. Skrocki Founders Athletic Award. The award is presented annually to an 8th grade boy varsity basketball player who also exhibits dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment on and off the basketball court. The 2021 recipient is Dale Boudreau. His name will also be engraved on the plaque and prominently displayed in the Richard A. Nowak Gymnasium. Congratulations, students!
