On Monday, November 20th, the students, faculty, and staff of Saint Joseph School continued their annual Thanksgiving traditions. As the students began the holiday week, they joined to give thanks for their many blessings and collect food for local needy families. Each class was responsible for bringing items to complete a Thanksgiving dinner. Younger students, including the three pre-kindergarten classes, contributed canned vegetables, while older students donated stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and more. The food collection culminated with a prayer service led by the Sixth-Grade students. Then, on Tuesday, November 21st, the Saint Joseph School community gathered for their Annual Thanksgiving Feast in the Richard A. Nowak Gymnasium. Everyone enjoyed delicious homemade turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and savory stuffing. The turkeys for the feast were donated by the Saint Joseph Basilica Knights of Columbus Council #12980, prepared by the kitchen staff, and served by parent volunteers. Highlights of the dinner included the 8th-grade students serving their teachers and peers, the older students assisting their young “buddies,” and the special guests in attendance. Guests included former principal Donald Cushing, benefactor Dr. John Kalinowski, Webster Police Officers Daniel Melhouse, Sean Ebbeling, and Sergeant Joseph Brooks, Representative Joseph McKenna, Amanda Galonek Hellyar Deputy District Director, and Special Projects Coordinator from the Office of Senator Ryan Fattman, and Saint Joseph School Home and School Association Executive Officers Pamela Parslow, Krystal Kolesnik, Kristen Krajcik, and Megan Belanger. However, everyone agreed that the best part of the gathering, besides the fellowship, was the homemade brownies served for dessert. The Thanksgiving holiday events were a grand celebration for all!
