On Sunday, January 23rd, the St. Joseph School Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams had the honor of participating in the inaugural basketball games at the Grace Rett Athletic and Education Center at Our Lady of the Valley Regional School (O.L.V.) in Uxbridge, MA. The G.R.A.C.E. Center is named in memory of O.L.V. Alum Grace Rett, who died in a tragic car accident in 2020 while on a training trip in Florida with the College of the Holy Cross women’s rowing team. The facility houses classrooms for the middle school and provides a state-of-the-art space for physical education classes, basketball practices, skills clinics, and athletic events. Members of the St. Joseph School teams, their parents, and school administrators were treated to a tour of the Center by O.L.V. principal, Ed Reynolds. Inside the facility are many dedications to Grace, including photos and a mural. Grace was a committed student-athlete at O.L.V., Marianapolis Preparatory School and the College of the Holy Cross. She was rooted in her Catholic faith and lived her life believing that we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. Her spirit and drive are evident throughout the Center. “It’s an honor and a privilege for St. Joseph School to be part of this special occasion,” stated St. Joseph School principal Beth Boudreau. “We appreciate the invitation. There’s no doubt that Grace’s legacy will have a lasting impact on many generations of students.” Before the tip-off of the games, St. Joseph School presented a commemorative basketball to Mr. Reynolds and O.L.V. On the ball were the logos of the two schools and a blessing in honor of the special occasion.
