On Thursday, January 30th, St. Joseph School students had the opportunity to meet with several members of the community who discussed their careers and/or their roles in the church. Special guests included: John Gogolinski who visited with Fourth Grade students and discussed his career in engineering as well as his responsibilities as the St. Joseph School Building Committee Chairperson; Stephen Kohut who shared his experience as a deacon with the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade students; Woodstock, Connecticut firefighter John Kline who demonstrated his firefighting equipment and discussed fire safety with the Kindergarten and First Grade students; Pawel Powaza who shared his love for music, demonstrated his disc jockey equipment and showed the Second and Third Grade students how they could make their own music; and Melissa McCarthy, a Fourth Grade Instructor in the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District, who discussed her love of teaching with Third and Fifth Grade students. The St. Joseph School Pre-K students also participated in the career day event. Pediatric Nurse, Jowita Androlewicz visited with the 3-year-old students and showed them the different tools she uses when treating children; and, Information Technology Specialist Subha Varanasi spent time with the 4-year-old students and discussed her role in creating technology that the students and their parents use each day. St. Joseph School teachers and staff feel it’s extremely important to introduce students of all ages to various vocations and career interests and invite guests to speak to students throughout the year.
