Congratulations to St. Joseph School Class of 2014 Alumni Shauna Harney, Tomasz Mamro, and Taylor Strong, who recently graduated from Marianapolis Preparatory School!
While at Marianapolis, Shauna served as a Peer and Orientation Leader and was inducted in the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society. She was recognized as a 12-season athlete when she received a medal for playing sports every season from freshman-senior year which ranged from basketball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse and track. At the end of her time at Marianapolis, she was awarded the Joseph Adiletta Scholarship which will go toward the college she will be attending in the fall 2018, which is Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. Shauna will be majoring in Biology in hopes of following the pre-med/pre-dental track.
During his freshmen year at Marianapolis, Tomasz received a third-place award for his science fair project. He later went on to be an Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists Leadership Ambassador and received the NAFST Award for Leadership in STEM during his sophomore year. During his junior year, Tomasz received the AP® Scholar with Honor Award, which recognizes exemplary college-level achievement, for attaining an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams. He was also nominated for the Boys’ State by the local American Legion post in recognition of his character, educational achievements, and leadership skills. Tomasz participated on the soccer, wrestling, and varsity teams. He captained the wrestling team and lacrosse team his senior year. He will be attending Hofstra University majoring in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.
Taylor served as an Admission Ambassador and Eucharistic Minister during his time at Marianapolis. He was also the goalie for his Varsity soccer team his sophomore, junior and senior years, as well as a handler for the Varsity ultimate frisbee team his junior and senior year. At the completion of his junior year, Taylor was awarded the Rensselaer Medal for his outstanding achievement in math and science. His senior superlatives included Best Dressed and Most Artistic. Taylor also received the AP® Scholar with Honor Award for also attaining an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams. Taylor is attending Lafayette College in Easton, PA, pursuing a degree in engineering.
