On Saturday, April 28, 2018, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students represented St. Joseph School at the annual Diocesan Declamation Festival at St. Peter-Marian Jr.-Sr. High School in Worcester, MA.  Fourteen students participated in the Reading Event presenting selections in Children’s Literature, Poetry, Prose, Play Reading, and Duo Interpretation.

The following students received awards for their presentations:  Wiktoria Potem, 3rd Place in Grade 6 Children’s Literature for her interpretation of How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long; Tessa McCabe & Noalani Perez, 2nd Place in Grade 6 Play Reading for their interpretation of Epitaph by Bob Snook; Logan Edwards & Kaeleigh Sullivan received 1st Place in Grade 7 Play Reading for their interpretation of The Great Goldi-Lock-Up by Ken Bradbury; Caroline Villa received 1st Place Grade 7 Poetry for her selections from Shel Silverstein; Seth Boudreau received 2nd Place Grade 8 Poetry for his presentation of selections also from Shel Silverstein; Benjamin Duval received 2nd Place Grade 8 Prose for his interpretation of The Ballad of Blasphemous Bill by Robert Service; and Antonia Peters received 2nd Place Grade 8 Children’s Literature for her interpretation of The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.

Also representing St. Joseph School in the competition were Nicholas Fennelly, Kaileigh Strong, and Jadyn Williams – Grade 7 and Grade 8 students Benjamin Colebourn and Hayden Dery.  Congratulations to all of the participants for a job well done!
